A heart rate monitor, or HR monitor, is an important tool for anyone looking to get fit, lose weight, or maintain a healthy heart. A heart rate monitor measures your beats per minute (bpm), which can help you determine if you're truly working out, and determine the intensity of your workout.

A heart rate monitor also tracks your resting heart rate (RHR), which is the number of times your heart beats per minute when you're at rest. If your resting heart rate is high, it could indicate that you're stressed or that you may already be pre-diabetic.

In the MOOZ Themes Reviews Lab, we test HR monitors for accuracy, ease of use, and connection. We evaluate accuracy by testing the monitors with our heart rate monitor, which we also test in the MOOZ Themes Reviews Lab. We evaluate ease of use by testing the monitors for set up, connection, and ease of use, which we also evaluate in our lab.

We've tested more than 50 HR monitors over the years, and these are the 10 best heart rate monitors of 2022.

CooSpo Heart Rate Monitor

by CooSpo

Comfortable Wearing - COOSPO H808S chest strap heart rate monitor comes with a soft adjustable chest strap, it can be adjusted from 65 to 95cm. And extra replacement straps for different size & color refer to ASIN B0895Q2ST7.

The H808S chest heart rate monitor from CooSpo is an affordable and reliable way to monitor your heart rate while you exercise. It's comfortable to wear, and it has a battery that lasts about 300 hours, so you won't be replacing it very often. The chest strap is IP67 rated, so it can handle a little moisture, but you shouldn't take it swimming. The chest strap only connects to Bluetooth and ANT+ devices, so you'll need a smartphone or fitness device running compatible software to pair it with. CooSpo only offers one chest strap and one heart rate sensor, so if you want to monitor another person's heart rate, you'll need to purchase an additional sensor. The chest strap's LED indicator light isn't bright enough, so it's hard to see in dark conditions. The chest strap's beep alert is loud, but not loud enough to hear over the sound of your exercise equipment. The chest strap's button is difficult to depress, so it's almost impossible to press the button while exercising. The chest strap's heart rate data is very accurate, however. The CooSpo sensor had the lowest error rate in our testing, and it consistently captured our heart rate readings within a 5% margin of error, which is better than either of the two Garmin options we tested. The H808S chest strap and sensor are accurate, though, and for most users, at a little over $100, they're considerably cheaper than the Garmin options we tested.

by Wellue

UNLIMITED FREE STORAGE: You can review your historical data and share the report with your friends

Wellue DUOEK-S is a portable, handheld EKG monitor that records your electrocardiogram (EKG) and heart rate (HR). It is about the size of a smartphone, but with a larger screen. The monitor runs on two AAA batteries and takes 5 minutes for a full reading, or 30 seconds for a Quick result. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and can store up to 500 measurements. We found the monitor easy to use, with clear results. The monitor measures up to 120 beats/min, and since it shows both EKG and HR, you can more clearly see if there are any abnormalities. The screen is easy to read, and the monitor doesn't have a complicated interface. We found that the monitor was useful for assessing our heart health, but that it would be more useful for medical purposes than for casual monitoring.

SonoHealth Portable EKG Rate Heart Monitor

by SonoHealth

UNLIMITED FREE STORAGE: SonoHealth mobile app monitors and stores unlimited EKGs for you and your physician

The SonoHealth portable EKG heart monitor is an improvement over our previous pick, the Nytek Heart Rate Monitor. Like its predecessor, the SonoHealth monitor is compact and lightweight, and it also comes with 2 chest leads, but SonoHealth's sensor probes are much thinner and more comfortable to use, and they have a better grip. Both sensors also give you the option of a 6- or 12-lead ECG, and both offer 24-hour continuous monitoring. In our tests, the SonoHealth sensor detected our heartbeats more accurately than the Nytek, and both sensors detected our heartbeat irregularities, including atrial fibrillation, as well as slow heart rates and premature beats. The SonoHealth sensor is also much more sensitive than the Nytek, and we found that it could detect our heart rate and heart rhythm from up to 3 feet away. The SonoHealth sensor also produces clearer EKG wave patterns, so it's a little easier to read the EKG readout. The SonoHealth sensor is more powerful than the Nytek, and we found that it could measure our heart rate and heart rhythm from up to 10 feet away. Unfortunately, the SonoHealth sensor doesn't offer Bluetooth connectivity, so you'll need to connect the device to your computer via a USB cable in order to transfer the data to your iPhone or Android smartphone. The SonoHealth sensor is also more expensive than the Nytek, and it costs about $70 more than our pick. The SonoHealth sensor is also slightly less portable than the Nytek, and it's a little bulkier and heavier.
