Top 10 Best Bose Home Theater Systems
for September 2023

MOOZ Themes editors select recommendations independently, so your purchase through our link may earn us a commission.

The home theater system is one of the most beloved home electronics, and for good reason. The theater experience at home is just as good as going to the movies, and with a home theater system, you can watch movies at your own convenience, without dealing with the hassle of traffic and parking.

The home theater system combines speakers, a subwoofer, a home theater receiver, and a video projector. The speakers are tuned to deliver clear, crisp sound, and the subwoofer delivers deep, powerful bass. The home theater receiver is the brains of the system, powering the speakers, subwoofer, and the video projector. The home theater receiver also decodes the video, converting it from a digital signal to analog, and outputs it to the video projector.

The MOOZ Themes Reviews Lab tests home theater systems on performance, including sound quality, volume, and bass. We also test them on their ease of use, including set up, ease of use, and connectivity. Here are the best home theater systems you can buy in 2022, according to testing and popular reviews:

Bose SoundTouch 520 Home Theater System

Bose SoundTouch 520 Home Theater System

by Bose Corporation

Powerful control with the Sound Touch app for your smartphone or tablet

The SoundTouch 520 is one of the most compact home theater systems we've tested, yet it still provides surprisingly deep, rich sound. The 520's two 2.1 speakers are more efficient than many other systems we tested, and the 520's 50-watt amplifier can pump out sound at a volume that's loud enough to fill a small to medium-sized room. The 520's speakers have a built-in passive radiator, which helps improve bass response, and the system can emit sound at a range of up to 130 feet, which is a good distance for rooms that aren't very big. The 520's wireless setup is fast, and the system's remote control is intuitive and easy to maneuver. The 520's sound is extremely satisfying, with rich bass and crisp, detailed highs.

Bose CineMate 520 Home Theater System

Bose CineMate 520 Home Theater System

by Bose Corporation

Universal remote controls system and most connected components

The Bose CineMate 520 is a powerful home-theater system, offering true 5.1 surround-sound reproduction. The subwoofer and Acoustimass module are small enough to fit out of sight, and the sound is impressively immersive. It has all the connections that you'll need for home theater, including 4 HDMI inputs, a digital video input, a headphone output, and an optical audio output. The CineMate 520 supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and it's SoundTouch enabled. The system also plays high-definition audio formats, such as ALAC and FLAC, and it's backward compatible (it can play DVDs, CDs, and CDs ripped to MP3). The remote control is large and simple to use, and it includes a display that shows source selection, volume, and input. The CineMate 520 is easy to set up, and Bose includes an instruction booklet. The Acoustimass/subwoofer unit must be placed out of sight, and the speakers are wired (no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection). The speakers are compact, and they are small and unobtrusive. The user manual is concise and helpful, and Bose offers toll-free customer support.

Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V Home Theater Speaker System, Black

Bose Acoustimass 10 Series Home V Theater Speaker System

by Bose Corporation

Cables and connectors included and clearly marked for easy setup

The Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V home theater speaker system delivers powerful bass with deep, powerful low notes, and its 270W/channel power rating gives it enough muscle to fill a large room (up to 500 square feet). The speakers' two-way design also gives you great stereo performance, with sound that ranges between 20Hz and 22kHz. In our lab tests, the Acoustimass 10 Series V's performance was among the best we tested, with some clear distinctions between it and some of the other models we tested, particularly the Vizio S517-VF, which is our top pick for surround sound, and the Sony HT-CT350, which is our top pick for home theater. The Acoustimass 10 Series V's sound is deep and powerful, and it produces plenty of bass. In lab tests, its low-frequency response measured 35Hz, which is 6Hz lower than our top pick, and its frequency response measured 20 to 22kHz, which is 1.5kHz higher than that of the Vizio S517-VF. The Acoustimass 10 Series V's sound is also clear. Its mids and highs are clear, and its mids sound great, but the bass sounds a bit sharper than some of the other models we tested, though it's still deep and powerful. The Acoustimass 10 Series V's speakers are more powerful than the Vizio S517-VF's, and they also have a bit more flexibility, so you can mount them flush to your wall. The Acoustimass 10 Series V's two-way design gives you great stereo performance, and the speakers are small enough to fit on most bookshelves, so they're easy to move around the house. The Acoustimass 10 Series V's speakers are inexpensive, and they deliver powerful, clear sound for a smaller room.

Bose Lifestyle V25 Home Theater System (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Bose Lifestyle V25 Home System Theater (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

by BOSE

Unify Intelligent Integration System allows for guided setup and simplified use/programming with easy to follow onscreen messages

The Bose Lifestyle V25 home theater system delivers excellent sound quality for its size. The included components, including the dock for an iPod or iPhone, are convenient, and the system's connectivity options, including HDMI, audio, and video upscaling, allow you connect a variety of devices. The Lifestyle V25's sound is remarkably balanced, especially when you listen to multi-channel recordings, and it can fill a small room with crystal-clear sound. The Lifestyle V25's ADAPTiQ audio calibration system, which analyzes your room's dimensions and other variables, then automatically adjusts the sound of your system, also delivers surprising results. For example, after adjusting the Lifestyle V25's sound, our test recordings sounded fuller and richer in bass. The Lifestyle V25's speaker setup is impressive, and the system's five speakers, including an Acoustimass module, produce surprisingly full sound for this small size. Unfortunately, the Lifestyle V25's remote control is disappointing, and the system's owner's manual is poorly written. The remote's display is small, and it's difficult, if not impossible, to read from a distance. The manual also doesn't explain all of the system's features, and it's confusing. Finally, the Lifestyle V25's remote lacks basic controls, such as mute, volume up, volume down, and track forward, back, and pause controls.

Bose Lifestyle V35 Home Theater System (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Bose Lifestyle V35 Home System Theater (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

by BOSE

Unify Intelligent Integration System allows for guided setup and simplified use/programming with easy-to-follow onscreen messages

The Bose Lifestyle V35 home theater system is the company's top-of-the-line model and comes with a lot of features that set it apart from the competition. The speakers, which are encased in black ash wood, are handsome and fit in well with any decor. The included remote is attractive and easy to navigate, and it includes a USB charging port. You also get a docking station for iPod or iPhone (the dock isn't compatible with older models), and the system can connect to your home network to stream music from other devices. The included Acoustimass module enhances edge-to-edge soundstages and delivers richer, fuller bass. The centerpiece of the system, however, is the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system. The remote analyzes the dimensions of your room, then adjusts the system's sound based on your room's acoustics. We loved the ADAPTiQ feature, which allowed us to get a good sound out of the system in a smaller space than the Dolby Atmos systems we tested. The Lifestyle V35 also gave off a richer, fuller sound than our other pick. The speakers have a built-in base stand for tabletop use, but you'll need a separate stand if you want to mount the speakers on the wall. The system's sound quality was good, but the sound field wasn't quite as wide or deep as with the Dolby Atmos systems we tested. And while the Lifestyle V35's setup was quick and easy, it was a bit more complicated than the setup for the Dolby Atmos systems we tested.

Bose Lifestyle T20 home theater system--Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Bose Lifestyle T20 home system--Black theater (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Unify Intelligent Integration System allows for guided setup and simplified use/programming with easy-to-follow onscreen messages

The Bose Lifestyle T20 home theater system is the best-sounding system we tested. It delivers room-filling, full-range sound, and thanks to its ADAPTiQ calibration system, it can automatically detect and compensate for the room's dimensions, angle, and volume level. The Bose system is even capable of producing sound that is as full-bodied and immersive as that produced by larger, more expensive systems. Like its predecessor, the Bose Lifestyle 15, the T20's ADAPTiQ system adjusts the system's audio parameters to your room's dimensions, but it's now powered by software, not hardware, and it analyzes a lot more variables, such as distance, time, and frequency. Add in Bose's Clear Voice Processing technology, which adjusts the sound of each speaker independently, and the T20's audio quality is on a par with that of the best-sounding systems we tested. The T20's video quality is also top-notch, and its HDMI connectivity is among the best we tested, too. The T20's five speaker configuration is more suited to music than movies, and it lacks a dedicated subwoofer, but it's the best-sounding system we tested, and it's the best-sounding home theater system you can buy for under $1,000.

Bose Acoustimass 6 Series V Home Theater Speaker System (Black)

Bose Acoustimass 6 Series V Theater Home Speaker System (Black)

by Bose Corporation

Cables and connectors included and clearly marked for easy setup

The Acoustimass 6 Series V is our favorite pair of front-and-center speakers, period. Its sound is rich, warm, and expansive, and it's capable of filling even large rooms with sound. These speakers are capable of providing powerful bass, but the bass isn't overpowering; it's rich, warm, and perfectly tuned for movies and music. The Acoustimass 6 Series V's virtual surround sound feature lets you enjoy your favorite movies in surround sound even if you don't have surround sound speakers. The speakers also feature Bluetooth connectivity, letting you pair them with Bluetooth devices. The speakers are well designed and easy to set up. They're easy to wall mount, and they're far smaller than average speakers, so they won't take up much space. The Acoustimass 6 Series V's virtual surround sound feature isn't perfect, though. We encountered a few glitches and glitches during testing, including loss of sound, occasional lags, and intermittent loss of connectivity.

Bose CineMate 130 Home Theater System

Bose CineMate 130 Home Theater System

by Bose Corporation

Universal remote controls system and most connected

The Bose CineMate 130 offers very good sound quality, and it's the only soundbar we tested that has wireless bass modules that can be tucked out of sight. The CineMate 130's soundbar produces deep, bass-heavy sound, and it sounds like it extends beyond the confines of the soundbar itself. The CineMate 130's soundbar is also the only soundbar we tested with Bluetooth, so it provides an easy way to stream music from your iPhone, iPad, or Android. The CineMate 130's control console is sleek, small, and unobtrusive, and its display shows which input is currently active. The CineMate 130 is the perfect choice for anyone who wants a home theater system, but doesn't want a large or complicated setup. The CineMate 130's soundbar is easy to set up, and it's smaller and less expensive than many soundbars, so it's a great choice for anyone on a budget. However, the CineMate 130's soundbar is too narrow and tall to fit under most TV stands, so you won't get good sound from most TVs, especially those with curved screens.

Bose Lifestyle 535 Series III Home Entertainment System (Black)

Bose Lifestyle 535 Series Home III Entertainment System (Black)

by Bose Corporation

Powerful 5.1 surround sound from small, sleek Jewel Cube Series II speakers and deep low-note performance from the hideaway Acoustic mass module

Our previous pick, the Bose SoundTouch 20, offers better sound quality, but it's more expensive, requires you to connect more devices, and doesn't have as many HDMI inputs. The Bose Lifestyle 535 Series III offers good sound quality, but it costs less, is easier to use, and comes with two HDMI inputs, which makes it perfect for a home entertainment system. It also supports more streaming services than the SoundTouch 20. The 535 Series III also includes guided setup, which walks you through the steps of connecting your devices and setting them up, so you don't have to do any of that yourself. The 535 Series III also has simple onscreen messages, which change depending on the source you're listening to, so you'll always know which button to press. The 535 Series III lacks Bluetooth, so you can't wirelessly stream music from your phone, but if you want to play music from your computer or other devices, the 535 Series III supports AirPlay. The 535 Series III also doesn't have built-in streaming capabilities, but it supports apps like Spotify, Deezer, Pandora and iHeartRadio, so you can easily cast music from your computer to speakers throughout the house. The 535 Series III has dynamic surround sound, so you'll hear more bass and treble than with most other systems, and the speakers are surprisingly loud. The 535 Series III's wireless subwoofer adds more bass at lower frequencies, and the speakers are detachable, so you can move the speakers around or put them on a shelf or table. You can also connect the 535 Series III to your TV using an optical cable, or if you use a Roku or Fire TV, you can connect to these devices using HDMI pass-through. The 535 Series III also has a USB port, so you can play music from a USB thumb drive or connect a USB hard-drive to the speaker. The 535 Series III's two HDMI inputs make it perfect for a home entertainment system, and the system's speakers are loud enough to fill a large room. However, the 535 Series III's wireless subwoofer is sold separately, and you'll have to connect it to the speaker with a cord.
