Cuisinart CBK-110 Compact Automatic Bread Maker, Silver + 1 Year Extended Warranty

Cuisinart CBK-110 Compact Bread Automatic Maker

by Cuisinart

Vertical baking pan for counter-friendly compact design

The Cuisinart CBK-110 is a perfect bread machine for apartment dwellers, because it operates without taking up a lot of space. It's large enough to cook a 2-pound (or larger) loaf, yet compact enough not to take up too much counter space. The 2-pound loaf is big enough for a whole family, and you can also bake smaller loaves of 1-pound and 1.25-pound size. The CBK-110 has large, easy-to-read dials, and it's easy to set the speed, time, and crust color. It uses a kneading blade, so the dough takes only 30 minutes to rise (compared to 60 minutes for machines that rely on a paddle to mix the dough). The CBK-110 also automatically switches to the bake cycle when it's done rising. The 12 preset menu options let you choose from a variety of crusts, and you can also choose whether to brown the crust or not. But the biggest drawback is that it doesn't allow you to use any add-ins, such as nuts, seeds, or raisins, which would be nice for adding variety to an otherwise standard loaf.

Cuisinart CBK-110C Compact Automatic Bread Maker, Stainless Steel

Cuisinart CBK-110C Compact Bread Automatic Maker

by Cuisinart

13-hour delay start, Easy-to-read LED display

The Cuisinart CBK-110C Compact Automatic Bread Machine is a remarkably affordable, quick and easy to use bread maker. It's compact, easy to use, and requires no special attachments or ingredients; it produces a nice, light loaf. The CBK-110C has 12 preprogrammed menu options, ranging from white bread to whole-wheat bread and seven crust shades, including French and Italian. The bread mixes and kneads, rises and bakes, then keeps it warm until you're ready to serve it. The CBK-110C's removable pan and paddle are dishwasher-safe, so cleanup is quick. The CBK-110C produces a small amount of bread, but it's enough to feed a small household. The CBK-110C is easy to use, and it comes with a recipe book, but we found the bread to be a bit dense and firm. We didn't like the CBK-110C's crust, which we prefer to be slightly chewy. However, the CBK-110C is a reliable, affordable bread maker, and it's a good choice if you're just getting started making homemade bread.

The touch panel is easy to navigate, and the machine's large LCD makes it easy to customize settings and monitor progress. However, it's not the quietest bread machine we tested, and it's a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which also adds to its appeal. The KBS Bread Maker with Dual Heaters is also the only one we tested that allows you to make bread with gluten-free ingredients, and it comes with three crust color options, so you can pick a color that matches the rest of your kitchen.

The Cuisinart CBK-200 is a convection bread maker that performs better than many other models we've tested. It has a much larger bread pan than some models (12 x 16.5 x 10.25 inches), and the extra room makes it easier to add ingredients and knead dough. The bread comes out with a golden brown crust and a nice chewy interior. The CBK-200's 16 preset menu options include dough, pizza, sweet loaf, jam cake, and sandwich loaf. It also has 3 crust colors: white, wheat and rye. The CBK-200 has 3 loaf sizes: small, medium and large, and it also has a remove paddle option, which, along with the convection feature, allows you to remove the unbaked bread dough before baking and form it into a loaf shape. The CBK-200 has 3 crust colors and 3 loaf sizes, and it also has the option of removing the paddle before baking and shaping the loaf by hand. The CBK-200 also has 16 preset menu options, 3 crust colors, and 3 loaf sizes. The CBK-200 also has an audible tone that tells you when to add fruit, nuts and other mix-ins, and when to remove the paddle before baking. The Dash is economical, but in our tests it lacked enough oomph to compete with our other picks. Still, the Dash is easy to clean, it's reliable, and it's simple to operate. The automatic ingredient dispenser is a convenient way to add your favorite toppings, and the bread maker provides plenty of baking options, including gluten-free options, so you can make it your own. Secura Bread Maker Machine 2.2lb Stainless Steel Toaster Makers Multi-Use 650W Programmable 19 Menu Settings for Home Bakery (Silver)

by Secura

Features an add-in ingredient reminder and a convenient view window The bread maker will beep to remind you to add final ingredients such as nuts and fruit during the working cycle Just open the lid and add the ingredients into the bread pan The handy viewing window allows the baking process to be observed at all times The non-stick bread pan is dishwasher safe

The Secura Bread Maker Machine is a good-looking machine with a sizable 2 2-pound capacity that will let you make 2 loaves of bread at a time, or up to 6 smaller loaves. It's fairly easy to use and has a decent range of settings for different types of bread, including gluten-free. It has 19 preset menu settings, but you can also manually adjust the time, temp, and crust color. We liked that it has a 60-minute keep-warm feature, which helps keep the bread fresh for at least 1 hour after it's been baked. The LCD readout display has clear, easy-to-use buttons that let users easily change settings. The machine is quiet, and the bread it produces is firm and moist, with nice crusts, though bread-making isn't as quick as with a traditional machine. The Secura Bread Maker Machine's 650W motor does a good job of kneading the bread, and there's no kneading arm to pull on, so it's less likely to tear the dough. The crumb is moist and dense, which works well with most loaves, though gluten-free bread can be a little dense. The bread gets nice and crispy on the outside, and the inside of the bread stays nice and moist. The dough cycle was the fastest we tested, taking just 3 hours and 15 minutes, and the keep-warm setting was also fast, taking just 60 minutes. Overall, the Secura Bread Maker Machine is a decent machine for bread-making, and it's especially good for gluten-free bread. It may not turn out as quick as with a traditional bread maker, but it's easy to use and produces quality bread.
