Top 10 Best Pneumatic Staplers
for June 2023

MOOZ Themes editors select recommendations independently, so your purchase through our link may earn us a commission.

Pneumatic staplers use a compressed air cylinder to staple documents together. They're commonly used to staple packets of envelopes or booklets together, but they're also useful for stapling loose documents together, such as brochures, manuals, and project proposals.

Pneumatic staplers work quickly, and there's very little noise. Some models even come with an LED light to illuminate the stapled documents. Some models also allow you to staple multiple documents at the same time.

In the MOOZ Themes Reviews Lab, we test staplers for speed, ease of use, and versatility. We evaluate performance factors such as how quickly the stapler can staple, how quickly the stapler can staple multiple documents, and how easy it is to load staples. We also look at factors such as how quiet the stapler is, how easy it is to empty the stapler, and how easy it is to adjust the stapler for different sized documents. Here are the best pneumatic staplers of 2022:

Metabo HPT Finish Stapler, 18 Gauge, 1/4-Inch Narrow Crown Staples, 1/2-Inch up to 1-1/2-Inch Staple Length, Pneumatic (N3804AB3)

Metabo HPT Finish Stapler

by Koki Holdings America, Ltd

DEPTH ADJUSTMENT: Tool free depth adjustment allows for a professional finish with varying materials

The Metabo HPT Finish Stapler is one of the cheaper staplers we tested, but it's among the fastest, too. It has a quick-change nose, which allows it to accept any of the 18-gauge narrow crown staples we tested, from 1/2-in to 1-1/2-in. The nose also extends 360 degrees, so you can point it away from the user and away from your work. The nose is 1 1/2-in long and retracts flush with the stapler body, so it won't get in the way. The stapler has a light-weight, balanced feel, and fires nails and staples quickly. The motor is quiet, and the exhaust is angled upward so it's out of the way. Metabo HPT Construction Stapler | Pneumatic | 7/16-Inch Staples | 16 Gauge Standard Crown | High Capacity Magazine | Cylinder Valve Driving Mechanism | N5008AC2

Metabo HPT Construction Stapler

by Koki Holdings America, Ltd

LIGHTWEIGHT: Only 4.4lbs and well-balanced for easy maneuverability

Metabo's HPT Construction Stapler is a good value for the money. It has all the same features as its more expensive sibling, the Metabo HPS, but the HPT is cheaper because it has 16-gauge staples instead of 18-gauge, which is standard for most staplers. The HPT's 7/16-inch crown staples are smaller and lighter, but still strong enough to drive into a variety of materials. The stapler can countersink or flush drive its 7/16-inch staples, and it also has an adjustable depth adjustment, which lets you drive into either wood or metal. The HPT's magazine holds 157 7/16-inch staples, which is enough for most jobs, and its capacity is high enough that you'll probably be able to complete a stapler full before needing a refill. The stapler's lightweight design makes it easy to use, and the handle is well designed, making it easy to grip. The stapler hits a near-staple-perfect mark every time, and it's as fast as most of the more expensive staplers we tested. The HPT is lighter and less expensive than the Metabo HPS, but it's no slouch.

Bostitch DS-3522 Pneumatic Carton Stapler

Bostitch DS-3522 Carton Pneumatic Stapler

by Bostitch

Easy load magazine designed for high production environments

It's rare that we come across a portable stapler that can keep up with our heavy-output needs, but the Bostitch DS-3522 Pneumatic Carton Stapler is up to the task. This workhorse stapler drives 7437 and 9040 "A" crown staples, which have a base diameter of 1/8" and a depth of 1/16" to 1/4", and it can staple up to 3,500 sheets an hour. We especially liked that we were able to adjust the staple depth for each diameter staple, which helps avoid jamming and allows for accurate, consistent stapling. We found that the stapler drives staples with consistent force and accuracy, and it's fairly quiet; the only drawback is its low staple capacity. This stapler can staple up to 31 sheets of 20-pound paper at a time, or 98 sheets of 20-pound paper per charge, and that's a bit low for our purposes. The stapler also weighs 4.8 pounds, which is on the heavy side, so it's a bit harder to handle than some staplers, though it's also sturdy and durable.

Freeman PWC50 Pneumatic 16 Gauge 1

Freeman PWC50 Pneumatic 16 Gauge 1" Wide Stapler Crown for Senco P Type Staples

by PGP

Easy to load magazine features a simple pull-back pusher

The Freeman PWC50 Pneumatic 16 Gauge 1" Wide Crown Stapler is a deal. It's a great value, and it's powerful enough for almost any construction job. It's lightweight, comfortable to hold, and has a 3 1/2-foot air hose. The 16-gauge drive blade is strong enough to drive most nails, even 16-gauge ones. The drive blade is housed in a one piece design, so it's more durable than designs that use a separate blade and housing. The PWC50 is a decent size, and it's light enough to carry with one hand. The drive depth is adjustable, and it's super easy to make adjustments. The PWC50 is loud, so if you're looking for a quiet stapler, this isn't the tool for you. The PWC50 is also probably not the best-looking stapler on the market, but it's comfortable to hold, and it's strong enough for most jobs. The PWC50 has solid construction and should last for years.
