In the past couple of years, Nvidia and AMD have been releasing new graphics cards that integrate new core tech, such as RTX and Navi. These cards offer tremendous performance gains over the previous generation, but they come at a cost. Nvidia's RTX 2080 is $1,000, and AMD's Navi cards start at $800. The GeForce RTX 3060 is Nvidia's first graphics card with these new cores, and it's significantly less expensive than both its older siblings. The RTX 3060 is also much more compact, which makes it ideal for small form factor PCs, and it packs more power and better performance than Nvidia's previous-generation cards. The RTX3060's performance greatly improves over the comparatively priced GTX 1060 6GB, and it's even faster than Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti. And unlike the RTX 2080 and Navi, the 3060's performance will remain competitive with the next generation of graphics cards.

The RX 570 is a decent upgrade from the RX 560 in most games, and in most situations, it will perform just as smoothly as its predecessor. The GPU clock speed has been boosted to 1286MHz, and the core has been overclocked to 1.9GHz, though the latter of these clock speeds is capped at 1.6GHz by AMD's power control policy. The memory clock, on the other hand, runs at 7GHz, which is 50MHz higher than with the RX 560. While the RX 570's memory clock is significantly faster, the GPU clock is 50% faster, so performance in CPU-bound games should be at least as good as with the RX 560. The memory bandwidth is also noticeably improved, with 240GBps, compared with the RX 560's 192GBps, and the dual-channel memory architecture should help the GPU handle more demanding games. The RX 570 is also equipped with the same graphics processing unit as the RX 560, with 2048 stream processors and 128 texture units. This gives it 52% more processing power than the RX 560, and it's powerful enough to render most games at 1080p resolution with up to 60 frames per second.


The RTX 3060 is a mid-tier graphics card, with 12GB of GDDR6 memory (twice as much as the RTX 2070) and a 192-bit memory interface (twice as fast). It's built for gaming, with ray tracing and support for DirectX 12 features, like real-time ray tracing and variable rate shading. The RTX 3060 is also 15% faster than the 2070, and 9% faster than the 2080. Plus, it's 10% cooler and 7% quieter than the 2080. While it'll perform about the same in games as the 2080, the RTX 3060's lower power consumption and cooler running temps are enough to give this card an advantage over the 2080 in a system with limited cooling. And, it's a better value than the 2080, which costs more, has twice the memory, and is 4% faster.


The MSI GTX 1650 D6 Ventus XS OC graphics card is a big step up from the previous generation's GTX 1650. It boasts much better performance, far better power efficiency, and much better gaming performance across all games we tested. (Note that the MSI GTX 1650 D5 Ventus OC we tested previously was the predecessor to the D6.) The graphics performance increase is a direct result of the new Pascal architecture, which boosts efficiency by 20 percent and doubles performance compared to the previous-generation Maxwell architecture. The MSI card operates at 1620 MHz, which is 15 percent faster than the GTX 1650 D5, and its power consumption is 25 percent lower, which translates into longer battery life. The MSI GTX 1650 D6 Ventus XS OC graphics card is the fastest card in this price range, and it's also the cheapest card in this price range to support DirectX 12, which gives it a significant performance boost in games such as Battlefield 1 and Overwatch. The MSI GTX 1650 D6 Ventus XS OC also comes overclocked out of the box, which means that performance will be even better. The GTX 1650 D6 Ventus XS OC is very fast, and it is also the cheapest card in this price range to support DirectX 12, giving it an edge over more expensive cards such as the EVGA GTX 1650 FTW3 OC, which costs $75 more and doesn't support DirectX 12.
